Candidate for Region 7 Director

Lisa is a proven leader with over 13 years of School Resource Officer (SRO) experience and more than 16 years as a sworn Police Officer with the Peoria Police Department. She has built her career on strengthening school safety through relationship-centered policing, high-quality training, and collaborative partnerships grounded in the NASRO Triad Concept.

Her dual background as an educator and law enforcement professional uniquely shapes her approach. Before entering policing, Lisa spent over 13 years teaching in elementary classrooms. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and Elementary Education and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, both earned with honors. This foundation enhances her ability to support students, staff, and officers with balance and expertise.

Throughout her career, Lisa has demonstrated leadership by developing the Youth Citizen Police Academy curriculum, designing district-wide professional development, mentoring new officers and SROs, and presenting at the Arizona School Resource Officers Association Conference. As a NASRO Instructor and general instructor, she delivers structured training nationwide on NASRO’s Triad Concept. She also serves as 2nd Vice President and Training Coordinator for the Arizona School Resource Officers Association(ASROA).

Her contributions have been recognized with honors including the NASRO Regional Exceptional Service Award (Region 7), Distinguished Service Medal, Meritorious Performance Award, Hometown Hero, Presidential Award of Excellence, and numerous commendations.

As an active member of NASRO and ASROA, Lisa remains committed to advancing the mission, standards, and effectiveness of SRO programs. Her leadership philosophy is rooted in professionalism, integrity, and the belief that SROs are most effective when well-trained, well-connected, and invested in the success of their schools.

Outside of work, Lisa enjoys time with family and friends, reading, baking, and relaxing at her ocean property with her pup and the love of her life, Christopher.

PLATFORM PRIORITIES

If elected as NASRO Region 7 Director, I am committed to advancing the mission of the National Association of School Resource Officers by empowering members, strengthening training, and fostering safe, supportive school communities. My platform is built on three core pillars:

Our strength as an organization comes from the voices and experiences of our members. I will ensure Region 7 officers are heard, supported, and connected by establishing regular communication with members. I believe building stronger networks within the region and across state lines will encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing among SROs. I will actively represent Region 7 concerns, priorities, and successes with the NASRO Board of Directors.

School safety is not achieved by law enforcement alone-it requires trust, collaboration, and shared responsibility. As Region 7 Director, I will work to strengthen partnerships between law enforcement, educators, parents, and students. I will promote positive narratives about the role of SROs in fostering safe, inclusive learning environments for all students. I will also highlight success stories from Region 7 schools, showcasing the impact of strong SROs and strong SRO programs.

I believe the foundation of effective School Resource Officers lies in continuous learning and skill development. As Region 7 Director, I will uphold and advance NASRO’s mission to deliver the highest quality training to school-based law enforcement officers, school administrators, faculty, and staff. My commitment is to broaden access to NASRO-certified training opportunities across Arizona, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, ensuring that every professional in our schools has the tools, knowledge, and confidence to foster safe and supportive learning environments. By expanding regional training availability and encouraging the development and strengthening of the state associations, I will reduce barriers to participation, strengthen professional standards, and empower our members to be experts in school safety.

This platform reflects my commitment to advancing NASRO’s mission while addressing the unique needs of Region 7. I will ensure through my leadership, our officers are prepared, our members are supported, and our schools remain safe places for students to learn and grow.
